I have always loved to sing. Ever since I was young, I would love to sing with the microphone. My father played the guitar, and taught me how to play a few chords. He mainly played and listened to Billy Joel, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Cat Stevens, John Denver. I still sing songs from these artists, and I would never get tired of singing or listening to them.

My mother used to listen to The Carpenters, Barbra Streisand, Peggy Lee, Christal Gale, Doris Day, the list goes on. I love their songs, even now. I love a lot of older songs from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. It’s great, because I can still learn new songs now that were from before my time. I sang at primary school, and was in the school choir. We got to sing at the Melbourne Concert Hall in the Primary Schools Choir. I will never forget how excited I was. I absolutely loved it!

Throughout high school, I studied music and the different styles of music. I was in a school production of Oliver when I was in year 7, and after that I did some performances with other students which was great experience for me. I took Music Performance - Group as one of my subjects for my VCE, which I loved. I learnt a great deal from the music classes, from the performances that I did, and from my music teachers as well. After high school finished in 1999, I continued singing and practising, but I would only sing at home, because of all the difficulties that I was having in my life at the time.

I have only just started singing again in 2008. I have been able to work on overcoming my Social Anxiety, with some success. I have had some singing lessons, and I am now in a choir. I love singing in the choir, and I would like to become a professional singer. When I wake up in the morning, all I want to do is sing. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

I thought about doing the Bachelor of Music at University. As much as I love classical music, I don’t want to only have to sing one particular style of music for three years. I want to be able to sing whatever style of music that I like. I know that I could sing and perform many different styles of music, and sing them well with more practice. I’m getting better every day.

At the moment, I like to sing classical songs, songs from musicals, some pop songs, and the older songs as well. I want to start taking dancing classes as well. I didn’t get the chance to do that when I was younger. It would be so much fun, and help with my singing too. I am also going to learn to play the guitar again. I wish my father was here now to help me. I still have all of his music and lyrics that he had kept. Anyway, I’ll post audio and video clips on my blog, and on Youtube as well. I hope you like them. Any feedback or contructive criticism would be appreciated. It will help me grow as a performer. I know I have a long way to go, but I’ll get there.
