This is a post about working on my blog (now a website,) and what I have learnt and experienced since I created it. It is about my life so far.

When I went to my doctor to see if I could get testing done for Trimethylaminuria - Fish Odour Syndrome, I had to write letters and give them to my doctor before our appointments, because I could never tell my doctor what I wanted to say because I still suffer from Social Anxiety. I found that this was the most effective way for me to communicate with my doctor. I ended up writing a lot of letters, and my last letter was ridiculously long. That's when I actually started writing my story. I have surprised myself because I never used to want to tell anyone else about my life at all. Now I want to tell everyone about what is happening in my life. I want to eventually finish writing my story, and publish it in a book.

I wanted to give my doctor the information that I found on my fish odour, and my drug/chemical sensitivities, and get some feedback. Letters were no longer effective, so I actually made up two folders which contained my medical history, research articles, past referrals, and questions that I wanted to ask. I had organised it, so that the doctor wouldn't have to look through the old information again. Then I realised that the doctor probably wouldn't be interested in it, and wouldn't have time to look at it anyway. It was certainly useful for me, and may be useful for doctors/researchers in the future. I do have an interesting medical history, and I may use the information that I have gathered as part of my research into my medical conditions when I go to university next year.

I didn't have the money, I am no-where near finished my book, and it was hard to have to explain to other people what was/is happening in my life or explain about my medical conditions. I showed a few people what I had written in my story, but it was too long for them to read, even though it was only about eight pages long. That's how my blog came about. I already had my own website, and I wasn't doing anything with it, so I started posting my story on my blog. It is great, because I can edit it whenever I want, and now I can also just give people my website, and they can read it for themselves when they have time. My story would reach a lot more people while I am working on my book.

I have spent so much time in the last month working on my blog. I have had some experience with internet marketing and blog posting in the past, but without much success. I have tried so many home-based businesses as well. I haven't been successful in any of them. If I had known then what I know now, I may be successful, who knows. Right now, all I want to do is work on my blog, and see what happens.

In the last month, I have learnt so much about writing blogs, google adsense, plugins for Wordpress, html, and css stylesheets. I have absolutely loved working on my blog. Eventually I want to build my website from scratch. I still have a long way to go before I can do that, but I will get there. I have also enjoyed the contact that I've had from other people, and the feedback that I have received has been positive. I have also joined so many social networking sites and forums, it's not funny. I do love Facebook though. I have been able to catch up with, and find nearly all of my school friends which has been great.

I want this blog to be helpful to a lot of other people who suffer from Trimethylaminuria, Body Odour and Halitosis, and who want to know about these conditions. I want to improve the testing for Trimethylaminuria in Australia, and in my story, you will see what I have needed to go through to get my genetic testing.

When I get it done, I will keep you updated. I also want this blog to be helpful to everyone else as well. There will be links to recipes, computer/internet related websites, music websites, funny/weird youtube clips, and much more. I hope that you all like my blog, and I would welcome any suggestions, comments, or constructive criticism.
